When it comes to picking out a new soy candle, the decision typically comes to finding the right scent. The same goes for gifting candles too. How many times have you sniffed candle after candle trying to find the one that appeals to you the most or the one you think your friend or family member would love most? Each of us is drawn to a particular type of scent that attracts us or brings back memories and adds to the mood of our space. The hard part is finding the perfect one that appeals to you most.
When choosing the best soy candle for you or shopping for a gift, there are a few things to consider.
First: Think of Location/Space
Whether the candle is for you or not, think about where it will go. What do we mean by this? Well, let's think of the size of the room and what kind of scent would go best there. For example, are you using the candle to give the kitchen a pleasant aroma, or is the candle going in a large family room? If the candle is going in a large room, you're likely looking for a more pungent scent that will fill the space. On the other hand, you wouldn't want an overpowering smell in a small room.
Second: The purpose of the candle
Soy candles are perfecting for setting a mood and creating an ambiance. Think about what the candle will be used for. Is the candle for office space, the kitchen, or a bathroom? If the candle is for office space, a citrus-scented soy candle is perfect for energizing the workspace. If the candle is for your bathroom that will be burned during a warm bath, you would likely opt for a relaxing scent like lavender or sandalwood.
Third: Is the only purpose of this candle to mask odors?
After cooking, ill light a soy candle to mask the smell of cooked food throughout the kitchen. Good options for covering up odors are citrus and woody scents. The same goes for the bathroom or even pet odors in the house.
When it comes to candle scents, they fall into four categories: Fresh, Woody, Floral and Exotic. Once you know where the candle is going and the purpose, you’ll be able to make a better decision about which type of scent is the perfect one. Remember, you can always have different scents in each room, which is allowed in the candle world, and I highly recommend it! It's always nice to change things up and light candles depending on the purpose. For example, a relaxing scent can be burning in the living room, while I have an odor-neutralizing scent burning in the kitchen. It's all about what you're going for.
